My journey to intimacy with my father has been one of the most profound and humbling experience of my life. In the place of intimacy at my father’s feet I was broken, my greatest fears became the source of my confidence. I realized I needed to let go of everything and cling to my father. Physically he was unseen, but His presence was overwhelming.  Daily through his word, my faith was strengthened, the barriers which had been built from thoughts, perceptions and fear of the unknown were dismantled and I embraced the new me. I wanted to experience my father in a new way and the rebirth had begun. Hebrews 11: 1-3

I no longer fear for anything, nor plan with anxiety. It’s been a literal walk of faith where I am constantly leaning on my father for guidance. Through the promptings of the Holy Spirit and divine insight I take each second as it comes resting in his promise and divine instructions – be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God (Philippians 4:6).

I have come to know my father as the I AM – my everything, all sufficiency, pruner, guardian, nurturer, friend, deliverer, mighty warrior and confidant. During the initial stage of this experience, I took one month off work and social media. It was just me, my father and my family. When the one month down time had elapsed and I had to return to work, I became anxious. I was worried I would become distracted with the world and lose focus. I prayed for strength and grace not to falter and I was reminded of this word –My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well-constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. School’s out quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving (Colossians 2:6-7 MSG).

Then this analogy was given to me- Imagine when a woman conceives, the baby is sheltered in her womb. Then comes the time of delivery where the child is brought forth to begin his/her journey in life outside of the mother. The child is still protected by the mum but eventually has to find his or her way to independence. The foundation provided by the parents as well as guiding principles become the child’s moral compass. The success or failure of that child depends on his/her choices. You’ve been raised on the message of the faith and have followed sound teaching. Now pass on this counsel to the followers of Jesus there and you’ll be a good servant of Jesus. Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion. Exercise daily in god-no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. You can count on this. Take it to heart. This is why we’ve thrown ourselves into this venture so totally. We’re banking on the living God, Savior of all men and women, especially believers. (1 Timothy 4:6-10).

In that same vein, Tejiri I have equipped you with my word as a guiding lamp unto your feet and the presence of my Holy Spirit. You can’t bear fruit by remaining isolated. Your light must shine and through the process, tests, trials and temptations will come but you know my commandments and if you obey them you have nothing to worry about. Remember I AM.

I write this today as led to encourage anyone going through a rebirth and transitional phase. Commit your plans to the Lord and He will direct your steps. Carefully guard your thoughts and circle. Always remember that no man nor power can alter God’s plans for you except you give room for it, you are your greatest weakness!!! The enemy will always try to steal your joy, through negative thoughts, ill-conceived notions etc. but the joy of the Lord is your strength and you my friend are an overcomer.

Nahum 1:15-Look! Striding across the mountains – a messenger bringing the latest good news: peace! A holiday, Judah! Celebrate! Worship and recommit to God! No more worries about this enemy. This one is history. Close the books.

Living Purposefully?

We all have one common purpose in life after receiving our salvation which is to win souls for Christ Acts 10:42. The way to get this done, The How? Is what differentiates each one of us. “We are all called By God to fulfill kingdom purpose on earth however, we are all different through our likes, desires, triggers, geographical locations etc.”

We know what we ought to do but the question we are often most plagued with is how we achieve The What?-Purpose!

In 2020 and beyond, we must live purposefully and be intentional about our relationship with God. What is that thing that has repeatedly nudged your heart but because of FEAR of the unknown and care about opinion of others you have not acted on it? Who do you have as an accountability partner and in your circle of friends? Do they challenge you to grow, inspire you or do they inhibit your growth?

Reassess that and apply wisdom, taking the necessary steps to keep a circle of Godly and healthy relationships. Rise above that spirit of fear because God has not given you a spirit of fear but of sound mind and boldness. Execute that idea and trust God to guide you as you step out in faith. Remember, we see and know in parts but our duty is to obey because therein lies our breakthrough. If God showed us the entire blueprint then, there will be no need to depend on him. So, we walk by faith; knowing that our obedience is a catalyst for growth and will spur God into action leading us in the path to follow and ultimately fulfilling his purpose.

I’ll like to share a few examples of men who lived by faith as described in the Bible. Abraham walked by faith and obeyed the instructions given to him by God and he obtained the promise as the father of many nations (Genesis 17:1-4, Romans 4:13). Gideon was chosen by God but didn’t feel equipped to fulfill his task (Judges 6:12-4, 7:13-15). However, God was intent on his purpose and gave him a slight purview to the heart of the people he had sent him up against; and it was only after that he boldly went in against them and overcame as God had promised.

God is intent on his purpose that if he calls and appoints you, he will see you through to the very end but because he is also a God that changes not and his plans cannot be thwarted. If you choose not to heed to that call he will find a willing vessel to use. I know I want to do my Fathers will always and by his special grace I will always be available to answer to whatever he calls me to do and when he returns receive that crown of righteousness. My question for you is -Are you willing and ready?

Walking in God’s purpose

Have you ever wandered if you’re doing what you ought to be doing?  Questioned your life choices such as career, relationships, ministry, purpose, actions/inactions? Are you in the right business or career? Is your intended spouse God’s perfect choice for you or are the relationships (platonic, business or intimate) you keep healthy? If so, then this post is for you.

Often in the course of our life’s journey, as humans we pause to reflect and reassess our lives. In doing so, one key question we need to ask which is pivotal to every other question and consequential action is – Am I walking in God’s will for my life? We could be very busy day in day out with activities and seemingly important things but if these are not in line with God’s will for you then we’ve only wasted our efforts and it all avails to nothing.

Have you seen or heard about instances where an individual works tirelessly at his or her job or in a relationship doing all the right things, but nothing ever seems to turn out right or there’s no inner peace or satisfaction? If you’re stuck in such a situation or know someone who is my advice will be to take some time off in prayers to seek God’s will concerning that matter. I tell you that whatever the reasons are for such feelings opening to God in prayer for direction will make all the difference in your life.

Romans 8:15 says Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires but those who live in accordance with the spirit have their minds set on what the spirit desires.  The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the spirt is life and peace. This is to say that when we are guided by the Holy Spirit in all our ways, we inevitably have an assurance of peace and God’s breathed life over that thing. That is not to say that there will be an absence of challenges, trials or setbacks but what you are assured of is no matter what happens because you are living/walking in accordance to God’s will for your life he will sustain you through it all. Though you fall, he will lift you up, though you are stuck in a rut he will give you a discerning spirit and guide you into the right decision.  Isaiah 30:27 encourages us that whether we turn to the right or left your ears will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way walk in it. One major sign you must look out for is peace! I have learnt that if my choices and lifestyle are in tune with God’s will I have inner peace. So, no matter the challenges I encounter, uncertainties, delays or setbacks I remain confident in my decisions and I am not swayed into fickle thoughts or options that give temporary gain. I set my eyes like a flint and focus on God because at the end of it all I want to please my father and by so doing inherit my crown of righteousness. Remember we live in a world and very perilous times where evil has become normalized and the right things made unpopular. That is one of the reasons the bible admonishes us not to be double minded but stable in our thinking and decisions and Revelation 3:15-16 further elaborates on this that I know your deeds, that you are neither hot nor cold and I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are lukewarm- I will spit you out of my mouth. Another word for this is reject you.

Also know this, God is merciful and ever faithful. I write this to those who may see this, and wander has God abandoned me, is there no hope for me and am I doomed for eternal destruction because I have not been living in God’s will? My answer for you is NO!  If you’re reading this today, it means you are now exposed to the light and truth and there is an opportunity to make amends and start anew. A willing heart is all our father needs.  God takes no delight in seeing his children suffer or end up condemned (Ezekiel 18:23). In fact, his death on the cross was for us all to have access to him and live victorious lives on earth.

Now that you’ve read this, I have some prayer points to share on how you can live victoriously walking in God’s divine purpose for you. God loves you like crazy!

The power of prayer- part 2

Hello there! I apologize for the brief silence!!! Occasionally, I like to unplug and have a personal retreat. This is time I use to commune with my father, pouring out my heart and laying still to receive what God has for me for however long I’m led to. I’ve come to learn that without doing this, I run on empty and burn out!

Anyways, I’m back and excited to share this blog post. So for the past few weeks while pressing in, one of the things I asked my father; was for direction on my next blog post. You see, I like to be led by the Holy Spirit and fully depend on him for everything and not my human understanding! Romans 8:6 says those who think they can do it on their own end up measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it  in real life but those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s spirit is in them.

We’re living in times where folks are struggling through various challenges and going through various life events. Through these phases, there are lots of unknowns and periods of fear, doubt, anxiety, confusion to name a few. So the Lord led me to share these prayer points addressing various issues. Regardless of what challenges you may be facing or life event (be it positive) I dare to say you can’t thrive without prayers. Prayer is the fuel that keeps us going! It refreshes the soul, through prayers we receive direction, perilous attacks are derailed and liberation is received.

I pray that as many as are opportune to read this post, find at least a prayer point addressing a need and above all I pray that as you avail you self to prayer which is an act of faith of your trust in God; that God Almighty will show up for you in ways only he can and grant you the joy of his salvation.

Back to school prayers- Entrusting children unto God

It’s that time of the year again when our kids are going back to school! Some have already began while some are yet to begin. If you are a parent, expectant mum or caregiver to a child(ren) then this is definitely a must read! Regardless of what part of the spectrum you fall into as a parent one of the never ending thoughts you have is that of your kids safety and the desire for them to be successful in all their endeavors.

No parent ever wants to see any harm befall their child(ren) nor hear any negative news concerning them! However, as much as we strive to do our best in caring for them and ensuring their utmost security, there’s only so much we can do as humans. It is ultimately up to our father who protects,  preserves and ensures success! One essential thing we must do consistently as parents is pray for them!!!

The Bible says in proverbs 21:30, there is no wisdom, no insight, nor plan that can succeed against the Lord! This simply means, we can do all we know how to but it is only God’s will that will prevail! This is why it is imperative to teach our children to know Christ and always intercede for them much more than every other thing we do to care for and protect them for they are precious in the sight of the Lord.

Personally, as a parent I have to constantly remind myself not to be so overly protective that I forget to always entrust them to the Lord. At the end of the day, I want to be able to say I have pointed them towards the Lord because this is his perfect will for them and that ultimately defines good success! Matthew 19:4 (NIV) says let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

Jeremiah 1:5 also says that before God formed me in my mother’s womb and my children in my womb, he knew us and called us by name! This verse is so powerful and always reminds me of God’s redemptive and oh so powerful love for us. Who am I to say, think or act like I know it all or can do more than God if he knew me and my children before we were formed? Oh, the overwhelming never ending reckless love of God!

Always remember this – The prayers we say over our children today are seeds that will manifest in their future.

•Oh Lord, I commit _______(mention his/her name(s))into your hands for you are able to protect and preserve their lives exceedingly & abundantly above all I can ask or think according to your power that works in us. Ephesians 3:20

•Oh Lord, I pray for your presence to go with my child(ren) in all their ways. Exodus 33:14

•I declare according to your word in Psalm 119:98-100 (MSG) that my child(ren) have more insight than that which the world can give because they meditate on ur statues!

.•Lord help me to train ______(mention their name(s)) in the way they should go, so that when they grow up they will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

•Some things have been made legal but not all are helpful (1 Corinthians 5-6; emphasis on chapter 6:12-18). Lord, help my child(ren) to be able to discern with the power of the Holy Spirit that which is not helpful although legal in Jesus name.

•Oh Lord, guide and instruct my child(ren) (personalize it by putting their names) with your eyes. Psalm 32:8

•I decree in the mighty name of Jesus that I and my children that the Lord has blessed me with are for signs and wonders. Isaiah 8:18.

•Oh Lord, help my children put their trust completely in you. Psalm 36:7-8

•Lord, cause my child(ren) to be of good moral character. Uphold and deliver them from anything, person or evil force that will try to pull them away from you. Psalm 25:21.

•Lord teach my child(ren) to love justice and hate wickedness and distinguish them above their peers. Hebrews 1:9

•Oh Lord, let my child(ren) be light in the darkness in their schools. Let your light shine through them in all their ways that they will attract people to you. Matthew 5:15-16

What to do during your waiting season

It is hard and painful but soo worth it.
It’s a season of preparation.

Now let me share a testimony during a season in my life. In December 2015, I wrapped up my contract role at an energy company. Like many would imagine, I persistently applied before December and after, but nothing came through. Fast forward to summer 2016, I got an offer surprisingly in another energy company but few days in I stopped as it wasn’t a good fit. The emotions swirled in and for a moment I was downcast, but I was at peace because with all that happened my family was my utmost priority and no amount of money was going to rob me of that.

Shortly afterwards I discovered I was pregnant with my 2nd baby! Hmmm Lord! Yes, I did want another baby, but I also wanted to build my career for a while before trying again as it was almost 1 year in without a job. Having this baby would mean a longer time off after all who was going to hire a pregnant woman! I gave birth summer 2017 and by 2018 summer I started thinking about getting back to work but it wasn’t going to be as easy! Things had evolved and I decided to take a certification exam! I studied and got certified in July! But in between taking care of two toddlers, hubby and my home, I barely had time to apply for jobs!

I started a small business in May but in my heart, I knew I truly wanted to get back to building my career! During this waiting season, the Holy Spirit and I kept conversing. Tejiri enjoy this period becausethese kids will grow quickly and all you’ll have are memories! Make these moments count and invest in your family! Yes, I love my kids and husband, but it was hard!!!! I felt underutilized and incompetent in supporting my family! In my mind I was just a housewife!

One day the Lord led me to write down a vision board and off I began!!! This was in 2018 and your girl hadn’t even been applying for jobs, but having an excellent job was on that list! I wrote by faith and stuck it on my prayer wall in my wardrobe!

I started applying intensively, I would drive several miles for recruitment & career fairs, but nothing came through! 2019 came and I applied for jobs like my life depended on it but not one interview in sight! Along came April and I received a call one faithful morning of an opportunity, prayed and submitted my application. I got an offer in May! As much as I wanted to push it because I felt my family and I weren’t ready for the transition, I chose to start a day before my birthday because this was a birthday gift from God, I had told myself! By end of June I had strikethrough half my written expectations on my vision board for 2018 and by July ending I stricken through all! Guess what one of them was? Have a servant’s heart (Divine direction from God on ways to continually be a blessing! (One of which was going to be this blog) Yes! He’s that faithful! Crazy faithful!!! The vision was for an appointed time, though it tarried it surely came to pass at God’s perfect time!

“Humble yourselves therefore under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift u up in due time” 1 Peter 5:6

In retrospect, I wasn’t ready to start work in 2018 even though I wished prayed and worked towards it. Between then and when I started working, there was a lot of self-development and if I had gotten this job any earlier than I did, I wouldn’t have been as equipped as I was on various levels and my family above all wasn’t ready for that transition at that time!

Now let me tell you something, this was a very tough season in my life! For almost three years I didn’t have a full-time job, I had a part time job but not what I wanted but here are a few things I learnt!

Patience- I prayed hard, worshipped earnestly and faithfully served with one major request unanswered. But my faith was unwavered if anything I developed patience, and this also inadvertently affected my personal life positively. James 1:3, Romans 5:4

Trust– trust God through the process. He knows what’s best for u. No good thing will he withhold from his Abraham trusted God for a promise and it was accounted unto him as faith. Romans 4: 18-21

Stay faithful– Don’t serve God only when u have needs/ expectations!

Character– hard times will test you, your reaction will determine your level of growth and note this: that level u seek to attain will bring its own set of tests & trials! Be ready to develop upon what I’ve learnt & acquired! James 1:2-3

Lastly, writing on a vision board was prophetic and will always serve as a reminder of God’s faithfulness. Because now I can reflect over what God has done in my life and whenever I encounter any challenges, I’m reminded that if God could come through for me previously, he is beyond able to do the same again. And even when he doesn’t, it’s not because he can’t but it’s probably either not the right time or that’s not his best for me.

•Oh Lord, your word in 1 Peter 1:7 says these trials (personalize it) will develop my faith so that after it’s proven it will bring you praise and Glory. Glorify yourself through this in my life. Because in the end it’s all about you!

•Oh Lord, according to your word in 2 Corinthians 4:17, my present troubles are small and won’t last very long, yet they produce for (put your name) a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever.

•I will be strong and be of good courage. I will not fear nor be dismayed for Jehovah God is with me. He will not leave me nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6).

•On the grounds of your mercy, vindicate me and finish what you started in me Lord. Psalm 138:8

•It is written in Psalm 34:5 that because Tejiri (insert your name) looks up to God, she is radiant, and her face will never be covered with shame.

The Power of Prayer

What is prayer?

Prayer is a way of interacting with God. It is the most intimate way to experience God and grow in the knowledge of him. It is uplifting and refreshes the soul. I find that when I pray I feel very light and completely at peace. Although I do not receive immediate answers, I have this faith and confidence in God that he will answer me according to his perfect will.

God’s desire is for us to pray on all occasions all kinds of prayer and requests (Ephesians 6:18). Personally, I pray about any and everything! From what to wear, to my utterances, getting clarity, I pray for wisdom, my emotions, relationships, marriages, family, children, career, business, challenges, health, you name it! (Philippians 4:16). We must pray fervently (1 Thessalonians 5:16), persistently and frequently! In Luke 11:1, the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray; this goes to show the importance and necessity of prayer!

I remember when I was pregnant with my first son, I heard all kinds of stories; good & bad! There was a lot of information to sieve through & I realized I had to filter out several things for my own good!!! Not because I knew it all, heck I was going to be a mum for the first time and knew nothing, but a lot of fear had been sown into me and I needed to protect myself. I started reading a book – “Supernatural childbirth” given to me by my sister and began writing everything I wanted to experience during my pregnancy through delivery and then for my baby! I would write about the character traits I desired to see in my baby and I continued even after delivery till date. I also asked God for the grace to deliver like the Hebrew woman! I vividly remember writing about my baby’s dentition and praying that it would be perfect. I laughed then because it felt silly of all things to ask for but that’s one feature my son has today that stands out! And each time I think about it I smile inwardly because I take it as a reminder to me from God that he cares about every detail in my life, even the seemingly little things. Remember I prayed for grace to deliver like the Hebrew woman? Now let me tell u something- I desired no pain during labor, yes I literally wanted a supernatural childbirth (Exodus:19) did I get that? Nope! But God gave me supernatural strength through it all.

What am I driving at? There is absolute power in praying! It avails strength, deliverance, revelations, growth and above all, intimacy with God! Prayer isn’t as complex as most see it and you surely don’t have to fit it into a template or use a particular style! If our father Jesus prayed at all times, then we should too! He alone should be our ultimate example in how we ought to pray! To simplify this, I have put together what I like to call a prayer /declaration cheat sheet.

Who am I?

I am who God says I am (1 Corinthians 15:10) – born of God and the evil one cannot touch me (1 John 5:18)

I am complete in him who is the head over all rulers and authority (Colossians 2:10) A royal priesthood, a holy nation and chosen generation who has been called to show forth his glory.

I am alive in christ, far from oppression and will not live in fear (Isaiah 54:14)

What am I believing God for today?

Look as far as you can see, it is all yours -Genesis 13:15 (Personalize it) Not by power, not by might but by my spirit says the Lord of hosts! (Zechariah 4:6).

What are my perceived challenges?

Who are thee o yea mountain (insert challenge/problem here) before Zerubabel (insert your name)? Be made plain for my hands shall finish the work which I have started! There shall be no abandoned projects in my life in Jesus name! Amen (Zechariah 4:7-9).

For with God nothing is impossible for (insert your name here)! (Luke 1:37)

These few questions, although little has captured several aspects & issues of life! God is all knowing & he sees through us! Just go humbly to him in whichever manner you find comfortable and express yourself to him. He hears you and he’ll answer you!
